Awardee: New Construction over $100M

Under Armour Global Headquarters

Thornton Tomasetti

Under Armour’s new Global Headquarters on the Baltimore Peninsula stands as a benchmark for optimized performance and sustainability in commercial architecture. Spanning approximately 286,000 gross SF, the five-story, 100 percent mass timber building is one of the largest of its kind in the United States. The structure features architecturally exposed timber, concealed fire-rated connections, and expansive 30-by-30-foot bays with robust cross-laminated timber (CLT) and glulam framing. Elevated sustainable strategies—such as a curved rooftop photovoltaic (PV) canopy and a dynamic, stadium-inspired ETFE façade—evoke the Under Armour brand while targeting LEED Platinum certification and net zero energy operation. Every element, from shallow concrete foundations to innovative detailing, embodies the design team’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of material efficiency, constructability, and design excellence.
