Sustainable design committee

The SEA-MW Sustainable Design Committee promotes sustainable design practices within the profession of structural engineering through leadership, advocacy, outreach, and education. Our local group aligns with the National NCSEA Sustainable Design Committee and with the SE 2050 program targeting reduction of embodied carbon in our structures. The SEA-MW SDC’s objectives are as follows:

• Advocate for the inclusion of sustainable design within the practice of structural engineering.
• Advocate for the role of the structural engineer in sustainable design.
• Share/disseminate educational material, white papers, presentations, as well as materials produced by complementary organizations to our local SEA chapter.
• Advocate for the structural engineering community with respect to policy and code development.
