Fairfax Urban Search and Rescue Presentation

Come join us on Saturday July 27th for a presentation and tour of the Fairfax Urban Search and Rescue training facility. Scott Bouvia of Scovis Engineering will present on the mission of the Urban Search and Rescue team, the role structural engineers play in disaster response, and case studies related to the team’s response to Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The presentation will feature a tour of the training facility featuring mockup disaster response situations. PPE including hard hats, boots, safety glasses, and pants are a requirement for all participants. If you do not have safety glasses or a hard hat or have additional questions, please email the event coordinator (jjaskowiak@wje.com).

The event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM and end between 12:30 – 1:00 PM. This event is limited to 20 participants. Sign ups will close on July 24 at 5:00. The facility is located on Mordor Road at coordinates 38°41'17.4"N 77°14'27.1"W and is adjacent to the Lorton, VA waste facility. Exact directions will be provided closer to the event date.
