Engineering Economics: Washington, DC Regional Economic Performance and Outlook
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the DC regional economy proved to, once again, be relatively resilient to forces that can derail economic growth and development. However, while opportunities abound, the social and economic disruptions of the pandemic have caused shifts in real estate and labor markets that may pose unprecedented challenges to the regional economy. At the same time, national economic data continue to be a mixed bag with some hopeful signs that there remains a path for policymakers to tamp down inflation without causing massive disruptions in the job market, yet new risks are also emerging for our financial sector. Dr. Terry Clower of George Mason University will unpack these conflicting data trends and offer an uncompromising look at opportunities and challenges for the regional economy, its businesses, and residents.
