How to Host Interns

Best Practices for Successful Internship Programs

With a growing shortage of engineers entering the workforce, companies must take proactive steps to engage young talent through outreach and internship programs. This event will provide organizations with strategies for recruiting and hosting high school and college interns, addressing common hesitations of working with younger students, and maximizing the benefits of internship programs.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the importance of internships for career exploration and skill development.
  • Learn how businesses can connect with local programs to find high school interns.
  • Discuss strategies for creating well-rounded internship experiences beyond traditional engineering roles (such as marketing, finance, and human resources).
  • Learn how to design a successful internship program that benefits both students and businesses alike.

Please see the link below to contribute to a survey on summer internship programs, sharing insights on creative traditions, mentorship approaches, and techniques for providing interns with a comprehensive view of the engineering field.
