Structural engineers have tremendous influence over the embodied carbon in building projects. We have a responsibility to learn the fundamentals of embodied carbon, start tracking it in our projects, and work collaboratively with the design and construction teams to make meaningful reductions. This is a fairly new topic in our industry, particularly in our region, and the goal of the presentation is to engage more engineers in this important topic.
